SpellBound / Swanwick 2023 Novel Competition
Competition Rules:
How to Enter:
1. The Prize
Prize: a one book publication contract to the winning entrant by SpellBound Books.
Provided by SpellBound Books.
2. Eligibility
All entries must be submitted by people who attended The Writers’ Summer School 2023. Entries must be a novel of at least 40,000 words in length entitled The Retreat.
The Tagline is What happens at Swanwick stays at Swanwick.
The Blurb is:
He was a lecturer working the writers' circuit. She was a budding author with big dreams.
He can't stand her!
She can't stand him!
Can their love of words help them find a way to love each other?
Entries must be the original unpublished work of the entrant, and not currently submitted for publication nor for any other competitions or awards. No submissions will be accepted from staff or associates or authors, presently or formerly paid or published bySpellBound Books.
3. Entry
The competition is free to enter but you can only submit one entry. Entries must be sent to swanwickcompetition@spellboundbooks.co.uk by 12 noon on the closing date 31 January 2024.
4. Manuscripts
Manuscripts must be typed in double spacing and should be contained in a single doc or docx with a separate front page stating your name, address, mobile phone number, email address, the story title and word count. Your story should commence on the
second page. Neither the first page details nor the title is included in the word count.
5. Competition Judging
Winners will be notified by 31 May 2024 after which date unplaced entries may be submitted elsewhere. The winning entrant will be offered a contract by SpellBoundBooks Ltd to have their novel published by SpellBoundBooks Ltd in digital and paperback form.
Royalties
Royalties payable to the author will be paid in accordance with the contract. Royalties payable to SpellBound Books Ltd will be remitted to The Writers' Summer School.
