Morally Grey Men, Magic, and Making It Up as I Go Along by Eve L. Mitchell

I welcome romance author Eve L. Mitchell to the blog today to discuss her writing and books as she gets ready to attend Authors Invade Scotland at the Golden Jubilee Hotel in Clydebank near Glasgow next month. Welcome, Eve. Thank you for your time today.

Thanks for having me on your blog today, Val. I didn't plan to become a romance author. I mean — I planned it the way most of us do, desperately wanting it and having absolutely no idea how to make it happen. Seven years ago, I hit publish on my first indie book, a mix of excitement and sheer terror, with not one clue about what I was doing. I was fed up with my Kindle. I couldn’t find a single thing to read while I waited for authors I liked to publish their next book. So I said to my Mr. M. something like, ‘Don’t mock me, but I want to write a book.’ He said something like, ‘Well, there’s nothing worth watching on telly, so go for it.’

And somehow… I'm still here, still writing, and the books keep finding readers who love morally grey men as much as I do.

These days, I work in a hybrid model: I have a traditional publishing deal for some of my contemporary romance, and I retain the indie rights to my paranormal and fantasy romance. The split used to feel confusing and complicated to explain. Now it just feels like me — two distinct creative worlds that scratch completely different itches. A bit like why I write both contemporary and fantasy/PNR. Switching between genres is easy for me. No matter if you’re a billionaire, a wolf shifter, a college football star, or a trailfinder with hidden magic. My genre is morally grey romance.

On the contemporary front, I'm two books into my new sports romance series, Fourth & Forever, with more to come. If you like your heroes competitive, a little infuriating, and exactly the kind of man your sensible friends would warn you about — you're going to fit right in. The women who fall for them are no pushovers, either.

On the indie side, my fantasy romance Winter's Echo is out, and book two is already in the works. It's a different kind of tension — the kind that comes with magic, high stakes, and the slow burn you only get when the world itself feels dangerous. Same morally grey heroes, different world to wreck.

I'll be bringing signed copies of both series to the event, along with swag and merch — so whether you're a contemporary romance reader or you like a bit of magic with your brooding love interest, there'll be something for you. Come find me, say hello, and maybe let me press a book into your hands that I think you'll love.

My favourite thing about book signings? Being in a room full of people who just get it. See you there.

The Author

Eve L. Mitchell is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary, new adult, and paranormal romance. Known for morally gray alpha-holes, slow-burn tension, and emotional punches, she writes deeply addictive books perfect for those who crave romance with an edge.

A lifelong reader and unapologetic character hoarder, Eve lives in North East Scotland with her three coffee machines (because one is never enough) and her better half, Mr. M. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found watching the NFL—or impatiently waiting for the next season—or conspiring with the voices in her head, which are rarely quiet and never well-behaved.
