Hunter's Chase published by SpellBound Books

I am excited to announce that the second edition of Hunter's Chase has been published by Spellbound Books today. I am overwhelmed by the support this launch has received and am most grateful to all the readers who have preordered it. I do hope you enjoy the novel.

The Blurb

Hunter by name – Hunter by nature: DI Hunter Wilson will not rest until Edinburgh is safe.

Detective Inspector Hunter Wilson knows there is a new supply of cocaine flooding his city, and he needs to find the source, but his attention is transferred to murder when a corpse is discovered in the grounds of a golf course.

Shortly after the post-mortem, Hunter witnesses a second murder, but that is not the end of the slaughter. With a young woman's life also hanging in the balance, the last thing Hunter needs is a new man on his team: Detective Constable Tim Myerscough, the son of his nemesis, the former Chief Constable Sir Peter Myerscough.

Hunter's perseverance and patience are put to the test time after time in this first novel in the DI Wilson Crime series.

The Author

It is with great delight that Val Penny has accepted a ten-book deal with Spellbound Books.

Val Penny has an Llb degree from the University of Edinburgh and her MSc from Napier University. She has had many jobs including hairdresser, waitress, banker, azalea farmer and lecturer but has not yet achieved either of her childhood dreams of being a ballerina or owning a candy store.

Until those dreams come true, she has turned her hand to writing poetry, short stories, nonfiction, and novels.

Val is an American author living in SW Scotland. She has two adult daughters of whom she is justly proud and lives with her husband and their cat.

The Publishers

Sumaira Wilson is the co-founder and publishing director of SpellBound Books. Her love of reading was sparked from a young age when she was first introduced to the magical world of Enid Blyton. She always wanted to work in publishing but life took her in a different direction and she spent her first 20 years working in the City of London in the Finance Industry.

She took a short break to raise her young family of four children. This is the period where her passion really peaked and she was lucky to turn that passion into a profession and landed a job as Production Manager for a leading digital publisher where she gained valuable experience of the workings of the publishing industry. She is a regular on the Book Festival circuit, which is where she met Nikki four years ago. They clicked instantly becoming firm friends and bonding over their love of authors, books and family! They are delighted to be teaming up, marrying up the vast experience between them in SpellBound Books.

Nikki East is the co-founder and artistic director of SpellBound Books. She has been working in the shadows within the periphery of the publishing industry for over ten years. She has assisted numerous authors with promotions, building websites, proof reading, branding and much more. She is also one of the co-founders of Hull Noir and has hosted Noir @ The Bar in both her hometown of Hull as well as in London where she lives. She has also chaired a panel of super talented authors at Newcastle Noir and, along with her son George, she helped coordinate logistics for Bouchercon 2017 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Essentially, she loves books and being around people who love books - that is how she and Sumaira first met. She admits to being a chatterbox but listens and takes notice of what others want. People will always get honest opinions and advice from her. It's her Yorkshire blood!
