We are beyond thrilled to welcome Val Penny To SpellBound!
Val has an Llb degree from Edinburgh University and her MSc from Napier University. She has had many jobs including hairdresser, waitress, banker, azalea farmer and lecturer but has not yet achieved either of her childhood dreams of being a ballerina or owning a candy store.
Until those dreams come true, she has turned her hand to writing poetry, short stories, nonfiction and novels.
Val is an American author living in SW Scotland. She has two adult daughters of whom she is justly proud and lives with her husband and their cat.
We are delighted Val has signed a multiple book contract , and her first book, book 1 in the Edinburgh Crime Mysteries series will be published in the Summer.

At Spellbound Books we believe in stories not genres and operate an 'open door' submissions policy and aim to make publishing more accessible to new writers and authors who may not fit into what is thought to be “commercially” attractive fiction.
We don't emulate any publishers out there: we are passionate, relevant, edgy and diverse, and plan to make our own mark on the industry.
Our submissions remain open throughout the year and welcome all types of fiction and non fiction.
