A Fighting Chance by Val Penny

A Fighting Chance is the second in my series of Jane Renwick Thrillers and readers have had to wait patiently for this novel to materialise. There are several reasons for this: my publishers had problems beyond their control, I took time to create the story I wanted to write and my editor had to do more work with me that usual. All in all it is a joy, at last, to be able to share this next story of Jane's with everyone.

The setting for my Hunter series is Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. However, I plan to move Jane's stories around Scotland. The first book, The First Cut is set in Edinburgh and Glasgow. However, in A Fighting Chance the adventure takes place in Stirling.

Stirling is an interesting city. The castle is set high above the city and to the north-east of Stirling the Wallace Monument stands on the summit of Abbey Craig and the university and women's prison are focal points in the city too. I managed to incorporate all these places in the new book.

Readers will find villains new and old weaving havoc in this central Scottish city and Jane is integral to solving the crimes that unfold in A Fighting Chance.

I hope you will find the new book an interesting read. Do let me know.

The Blurb

Two drug cartels clash – Jane in the middle – What could go right?

Connor O’Grady is back.

The drug lord comes back to Scotland to protect his business because the matriarch of the Cheney family, Peggy Cheney is out of jail and back at the

head of her family.

DS Jane Renwick is sent to Stirling with DC Brian Harris. They track down O’Grady before Jane finds the corpse of a young man and then hears a mother crying over the body of her daughter. Are the deaths connected? Is one vicious killer responsible for both deaths?

Connor O’Grady swears he’s not responsible, but who can accept the word of a drug lord?

This gripping police procedural is set in Stirling and Gartcosh.

The exciting novel is the second in Val Penny’s series of Jane Renwick Thrillers.
